Play is usually in the trac bar, sometimes the tie rod ends, sometimes in the steering column U-joints, sometimes the steering box itself.

Most of the rag joints are fine, and after you tighten the steering box, you will be able to determine if it is a culprit. Remove the plastic boot around the colmn from the fire wall. (four bolts) 4. Pull boot up the colmn turning it to clear the accelerator pedal bar.
